Helmet diving dates back to the early 1800's and two Englishmen, Charles and John Deane. Originally conceived for the commercial market, it took until 1998 and Sub Sea Systems, with its expertise in dive systems, submersible fabrication and marine technology, to design and build an extremely safe and comprehensive helmet system for the recreation-minded public. Sub Sea Systems' goal in developing Sea Trek was to create a product that would allow practically anyone to comfortably explore beneath the sea, regardless of swimming skill or physical ability.
